In 1920, America decided that it needed to change. That's when the Prohibition started. Alcohol was outlawed due to moral standing. It never ended. In fact, over the years, a surge of religious moral awakening and fear-mentality of "think of the children" caused the Prohibition to grow. Gambling was outlawed. Stripping was outlawed. Anything considered "sinful" was thrown to the curb. Protesters argued that the Prohibition on a federal level was a violation of their rights. These protests led to the decision that the Prohibition would be handled on a state level. Then, in 2011, it was decided that counties would decide whether to keep to the Prohibition or to let loose and become a "sin city."
One such city to make the decision was New York City, New York. Ever since the decision in 1920, New York, alongside Atlantic City, descended into a cesspool of crime and criminal activity. The mafias of the USA took a stronghold on the city and used it to fuel their power with underground speakeasies, bootlegging, and extortion. The decision to make alcohol, gambling, stripping, and other sinful pleasures legal once more only further fueled the fire. The mafias began to centralize in New York City and use it as a hub while networking throughout the states.
With the decision in 2011, people flocked to the city to indulge legally, causing money and profits to grow. Citizens are unsure on their opinion of the new law. Some are all for it, especially freelance criminals, and others dead-set against it and protest to again return to Prohibition. The mafias, with all the new income, are running into heavier conflicts as they struggle to obtain monopolies.
Blood is in the water. Shoot outs on the street leave both innocent and mobsters alike "putting on the Chicago overcoat". And there's no sign of it slowing down.-------------------------------------------
